Sign In/Sign UpInternal travel grants for K-State humanities, arts, architecture, design, education, and aligned social science faculty presenting original research or creative work at significant professional venues. Awards of up to $2,000 for domestic travel and up to $4,000 for international travel, paid as reimbursement. Applications for the October cycle are due October 1, 2026, for travel between January 1 and December 31, 2027.
Launch Awards catalyze new research directions by providing seed funding for early-stage projects that will generate preliminary data for competitive external grant submissions. Ten awards of $25,000 per year, five per cycle; one year, non-renewable.
Thrust Awards strengthen resubmission efforts of externally reviewed but unfunded proposals by addressing reviewer comments and generating additional supporting data. Five awards of $50,000 per year, at least two per cycle; one year with optional one-year no-cost extension.
Orbit Awards support the development of large-scale, interdisciplinary teams focused on securing major external research grants, center-level funding, or large one-time federal tranches directed at specific national problems. Two awards of $250,000 per year, at least one per cycle; one year, renewable once after a competitive progress review.
Touchdown Awards accelerate the translation of K-State intellectual property and innovative technologies toward commercialization or licensing opportunities. Administered by the Kansas State University Research Foundation (KSURF) and funded from licensing revenue and royalties. Award size, number, and deadline are set by the KSURF call for proposals.
The Design, Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities Award, or DASH, is an annual opportunity for one-time, one-year $10,000 awards to support research, scholarly work, or creative activities. Applications are due October 1, 2026.
